65 ford pick-up?

i was offered a 65 ford pick-up that has a 'ran when parked' 360c.i. and a 460 two barrel carb on top. it was an auto. and has a good rear-end.

now, may ?s are can this motor bolt to a tranny that a 302 is bolted to it?
and would this truck have a 9 inch in it?

im not real educated on what will bolt to what with fords. so any help is appreciated.

302 (all W and C engines), 360 and all FE engines, and 429/460/351M/400M each series have unique transmission bellhousing bolt patterns.

65 1/2 ton pickup will have a factory 9 inch rear end.

FYI 65 pickups did not come factory equipped with 360 engines. 352 or 390 yes.

From 57 to 72 the 9" rear ends are narrower than the later ones.

I know you can pick up these for around $200 (lot of guys on another site have). There are a lot of them around. I traded some junk chevy parts for one. Although I have never put it in.

I would not pay $500 for the rear end alone.

If the body is pretty straight (not rusted out), it is worth it I would think. You can always part it out and sell the rest for scrap.

Assuming you don't drop a drivetrain in it and drive it as is.
