65 impala 327 timing
Hi,
I need to know the degrees of timing for a 1965 impala with 327 engine, hei, and an automatic transmission. Any information would be great. |
Stock cam...? If so a good starting point would around 8-12 degrees BTDC... Compression and overall condition of the engine will also need to be considered...

The motor has been rebuilt stock except for harden seats for unleaded gas. Has been run for about 30 miles. Has a smell of gas in the exhaust and is sluggish at times. I timed it by sound but now I have a tach and timing light. It is a 327 with a stock 65 Holley, HEI and automatic transmission. If someone could give me the degrees and the best procedure to get it to the sweat spot for street driving. Thanks.
