65 vette steering.

My 65 has manual steering , want to change to power . Need to know what other car used the same manual box as mine. I know whats available for conversions but know that I could save $$$ by a simple swap junkyard style.

power swap

I have had many vettes, and if you drive it to drive it hard I wouldnt suggest the swap, I also have a mid 60's vette that doesnt have power steering and if you want to know where you are on the road there is nothing like not having power steering, you dont float as you do with power steering and it handles great.

I have had several vettes with power steering and hated every one of them because they float at high speeds (anything over 50) regardless of how many times I rebuilt the steering assemblies or added after market crap to keep them from floating

I would suck it up and lift some weights to turn the steering wheel instead of changing to a power steering system

Good luck

I agree , I converted to manual, But to each his own, If its what you like I say do it, nothing wrong with a comfortable drive.

I was wondering why you were looking for a steering box why dont you just go to the stock system with the the pump & hydraulic cylinder & lines etc cost is under 300 dollars? For every thing but the pump.
