I think that depending on how its drove the 600 or 650 could make a big difference. cfm = (max rpm)(cid)divided by 3456 is the formula my dad told me to chose my carbs.
580cfm = 5000rpm times 400cid divided by 3456
694cfm = 6000rpm times 400cid divided by 3456
925cfm = 8000rpm times 400cid divided by 3456
