Hey All.
My stepdad is thinkin bout pullin the Vortech 6 banger and 5 speed tranny from his 94 longbed truck thats been wrecked.
He wants to know what would be involved in swapping it into a 66 Chevy truck? Mounts, Computer stuff, Tranny and even wants to do the rear end swap.

unless the Poisson of a v-8 engine mount has changed on block he should be able to get a set of mounts, also if its a BB Chevy had the option for a BB in those trucks so he could get BB mounts easily also. as far as tranny, there are custom trans mounts where you cut out the old cross member and weld in a new one with the right mount, and the rear end i would assume would fit, not sure on that, take lots of measurements, make sure its not to wide or anything. the computer stuff, well, thats prolly going to take a good deal of re wiring and know how of how it all works. one other thing is your probably gona have to get a custom drive shaft, iv stated most of the obvious things, some one with a lil more knowledge could help more probably.

o well thats not as bad as the spelling i used in my auto tech report where i used ***** when i meant shift, good thing the teacher loves me or lots of would be in order

In 1994 GM used the TBI. Vortech was not issued in the pickups till 1996.Either way, why does he want to spend all of this time and money on a six banger? After all the 1966 pickup is awsome truck that needs all eight cylinders, for show or go!!!!!!!!
