'66 chevy truck parking light operation

After having my project apart for several years I forget if this is the proper way these lights should work... If you pull the headlight switch out to the first position the front parking lights and taillights come on as expected but when you pull it out to the 2nd position the headlights come on, the taillights remain on but the front parking lights go off. All other lighting is working normally so this may be how its designed to work, thanks for any information.

It is working properly. On that era truck, the parking lights do not stay on with the headlights...
