Of course if you have a bumper but it is damaged, a bumper reconditioning shop will repair it and rechrome it.
This has been a standard "replacment" for chrome bumpers for decades. Even the most damaged, folded and torn bumpers can be repaired. I have found that the repaired bumpers are better than most any reproduction in quality. |

Echo. it really doesn't matter how bad it is (yours doesn't look that bad) they "can" make it look like new. If you can get some feedback from other users you may find a repro one that is high quality. I have found that repro parts are "similar to original, can be used if nothing else is avalible"
![]() But sometimes you have no choice. Also, repro may be much cheaper than chrome being the tight epa standards put on the chrome industry (and rightly so) here in the states. In taiwan and the like chroming is very cheap so they can produce a product at a pretty low cost. But as I said previously, the repro part such as this bumper are seldom as nice as a "reconditioned" original. Finding a "bumper shop" may not be that easy. Being they are almost always a "wholesale" business they are hidden from view. And of course these days a "bumper shop" may also be a plastic bumper reconditioning business. Check with the body shops in the area to find one. You may even need to leave the bumper for the "bumper shop" to pick up at the body shop. Most of these bumpers/chrome shops use a pickup and delivery system and are actually in some city away from down town. But if you ask enough shops some one will tell you a name and number so you can go directly there. Last edited by MARTINSR : 10-28-2004 at 08:32 AM. |
