I am trying to find out what rear end gears I have in my 66 Impala. What method do I use to find out? I am assuming the gears are in the high 2's or low 3's. What is a good gear for light to light? Car weighs 3800lbs and I have 235/18/50's size tires... Motor is 350 with nitrous pushing 500hp.. Thanks....

you could raise the rear end off the ground, and mark the tires,anddriveshaft and spin the driveshaft while the transmission is in neutral, until the mark comes all the way around the number of times the driveshaft goes around to the single revolution of the tire is your gear ratio.
