Alright heres an interesting question Is it possible to make a 66 mustang coupe into a fastback? with just sheet metal. I know the trunks are diffrent and obviouslly the glass is too. Should just fabricate some panels and weld em on . or would I need to replace the whole roof to make it look correct? imp: Thanks
for any help I can get bradford074@juno.com
For all that you would have to go thru I would just find a fastback to begin with. They are out there. Where would you get the sheetmetal for the coupe. Rob it from a fastback? In that case use coupe parts to fix up the fastback. Just my $.02 worth.
And you would still have the coupe 1/4 panels. This makes for a wierd look, especially to a Mustang type person.
Besides, your VIN still says coupe.
I'd take the above advice and search for a Fastback, if that's what you want. www.vintage-mustang.com
EDIT:
Oh, and thats alot of work your looking at, don't forget the interior parts.
hey. i have a 66 coupe and am looking into a smilliar project. however, i want to make the top removable as well as chopped(about 1 inch). everything i've read says it can not be done but oh well. the biggest concern is the car is a unibody. cutting sheet metal from the top will seriously weeken the car. roll bar and sub-frame are my only idea. tell me if you come across anything
