66 six cylinder mustang 9" rear end axle spline?

I have a 66question mustang that came with a six cylinder engine. I need to know some specifics about the rear end I know it is a nine inch rear end open diff and the axles are four lug bolt pattern but, I was wanting to know what the splines would be on the axle shafts and I was hoping that instead of taking them out to findd out someone might know???? I do know they have a 28 spline shaft and a 31?? Please let me know im thirsty for some knowledge! Thank you.

Its probably an 8", not a 9", so the axles will be 28 spline...

It's not a 9". it's a 7.25" ( bolt on rear cover ) or 8"( drop out pumpkin). I think there 28 spline if 8". the 7.25" is only strong enough for a stock 6cyl which is all they came behind.. '65-'66 were 2 years that 6cyls had the 4 lug 8". all other years had 7.25" 4 lug and some of the '66's have 7.25" as well
