67 Cadillac DeVille interior
Hi everybody! I am new to the forum and to automotive interior work. I have done a few small projects this summer, recovering a sea doo seat, a custom headliner for a 76 Chevy truck and a tractor seat. My next project is pretty big. I'm doing a custom interior on my husbands 1967 Cadillac and I'm pulling apart the rear seat. Any thoughts on new foam and can I get away from using burlap?

Yes, you don't want to use burlap to cover the springs, all you'll have is a buffet table for mice. Get one of the synthetic deck pads that are available. Look at this thread for how to do it:

Thanks Dan. This is very helpful. The foam that I pulled off the seat is about 3 inches. Should I build it back with 1" foam or use bigger foam?

Whatever foam and deck pad you put on has to equal what was on the seat originally, or the seat cover won't fit. It doesn't matter how you get to that thickness, with 1" or 3" or 1 1/2" foam, as long as it matches the original. Remember to count the thickness of the deck pad.

I've got a '70. I'd recommend using a firm foam for this seat.
