350 parts
The distributor is a points type.
The second picture is an oil seperator for the road-draft tube. The Q-jet is also an early one, it has a perculator valve on the top---just behind the front screw on the top of the carb. The picture of the piston is UGLY. The crank and rods are junk and the the block is questionable. The 462 heads aren't anything special. I'd suggest you throw everything away, get a good book on how to rebuild a SB Chevy. Buy David Vizards book and it will step you through a rebuild. Ron |

look for a 96 to 2000 350 vortec engine. These engines came with factory roller cams and vortec heads. Should be able to get one in good condition for less than 600.00.
Only thing worth saving on that engine is the q-jet. The engine is worth about $25 at the metal salvage. |

![]() The carb number from the driver side of the carb will tell you the exact year of this carb. More here. |

I have been in the same boat as you, believing what I was told only to find out I was lied too. I would call the guy back and tell him what you found and ask him for your money back on the motor. It never hurts to ask. The engine stand probably is'nt worth $300.00 unless it can dispense beer too. Sorry for your misfortune but I'm sure everyone here has had something similar happen to them so don't feel like the only fool on earth. Next time, ask to pull the oil pan and inspect it before shelling out money.

Take the block to the machine shop. It could still be good. I had a 350 that had thrown a rod and taken a chunk out of the bottom of a cylinder and ended putting that engine back together with a supercharger and drove it for several years.

$300 for the engine, $400 - $500 at the shop. $800 You can a get a rebuild 350 motor for $800 with brand new parts. Take that engine back where you got it tell him shove it and get your money back.

That's a very early SBC, and it may be early enough that it doesn't have side mounts on the motor if that distributor is original to the motor. The later distributors did not have an oiler on them like that. If it's an early 265 or 283 without side mounts, then it wont fit into later cars requiring side motor mounts, so even if it was salvageable it wont work in many applications.
For future reference, they didn't make a 350 in 1967. Sorry you got taken by a crook. |
