67 Cruiseomatic issue

I just purchased a 1 owner completely original, 1967 Ford Country squire station wagon, 390 ci, 3 speed automatic (dealer invoice says in hand written type includes Ford Cruise O'Matic), car was purchased new on 11/23/66 and at 56,000 (156,000) on Odo it had a trans rebuild, it now says 99,400 mis (199,400) I drove the car home 200 mis. yesterday and was turning onto my street and noticed a puff of smoke by the pass. side fender, I pulled into my driveway and looked under the car and a puddle of fluid 2 ft. x 2ft was forming, I started the car and pulled it directly ahead into my shop and shut it off, trying to get an idea as to what was the problem, as I have found a few things it seems it could be, a vac. modulator?, or vent plugged??, if I need a modulator can I purchase that locally or from you?, it shifted and ran and drove fine all the way home except for above mentioned time, thanks any hints, info is appreciated; Geof Amos; Vancouver, Wa.

There was a batch of Ford fires when the trans was over filled and it would puke Trans fluid on to the hot exhaust system..
