Post 67 Impala 283 Exhaust System

Hello people, nice forums you got here.

I'm thinking of replacing the entire exhaust system on my 67 Impala (4 door). I just don't have any clue as to where I should start. Its getting a new carb and manifold in January, and since I'm super car-illiterate, I could use some advice. What kind of parts should I be looking at to increase gas mileage? What kind of costs should I be prepared for? Local mechanics where I live are few and far between, and I'm pretty nervous about dropping a ton of money into the car that I might not need to. I know all this is kind of vague, I'm just trying to get a general idea of what I'm looking at. Thanks.

Cool

hello there!

the basic performance rule of thumb is the faster you get the air and fuel mix in and the faster you get the exauhst out the better your performance. if your going to change your exauhst go to dual, headders are an excellent addition but on your car you may have to replace the accesory brackets. check to see if any of your brackets are bolted to the exauhst manifolds.

your best bet is to go to a muffler store that bends thier own pipes. good luck hope this helps.
