it's been awhile since I've had a chevy II door apart but if I remember right the glass is held onto the lower channel with a rubber type gasket that's sandwiched. I've used urethane instead and it works just fine. Clean the glass and clean and prime the channel then apply your urethane and slide the glass in, roll the window up to keep some pressure on the glass and let it set overnight.

I would like to add that I had to adjust the felt bumpers in my doors to keep the window in line with where it was going up or down. You can't see it with the gasket felt in the way, it's down in the door a little but you can get at it with the interior panel off. It was trial and error until I got it plenty good.
