68 Camaro Front / Rear Tire Width / BS - Whos running what?
First off, good to see a strong First Gen gathering on this board.
I recently bought a 68 Camaro to replace the one I foolishly sold 3 years ago. My last one ran 4" backspacing with a 15x10 rim (front and rear). I remember the rear was a 305/60/15 and the front was something along the lines of a 235/40/15. Unfortunately, the front rubbed in turns and the back had to be stiffened up so as not to rub the fender on the wheel. This time around, I'd like to get as much width as possible while still slipping into the wheel well keeping my low center of gravity. I thought I'd ask what others are running. From what I can tell, a 4.75" backspacing on a 10" wide x 17" tall rim could potentially fit a 335/50/17 on the back but I'm a little skeptical of the math. I'm just now swapping to a 89 trans am 3.23 posi with disk.
I'm currently running a 245/60/14 rear and a 225/60/14 front but the 3.5" backspacing makes the tires stick out too much for a 7" wide rim.
