68 camaro ss

hi, i own a 68 ss camaro 396. i have no idea what this car would even be close to being worth. i was hoping that someone could help me out just by some general information on the car. it is an all original 68 ss camaro matching number car vinyl top. has 50,000 original miles on it with a 12 bolt rear end with 3:08's. it runs and drives but needs general maintenance all around. interior is good nothing is torn or ripped. it has a turbo 400 tranny. the engine has all the smog stuff on it but just a little dirty under the hood where the rats got to it. the paint was brand new 20 years ago before it sat for 15 years in the santa cruz california weather under a tarp.i got it running and driving about 5 years ago. somewhere lost in his house is all the paperwork on the car well thats what we think. it could be lost for good for all i know and then i have no documentation on the car. but technically i am the second owner of the car. has not been registered in over 20 years. no major rust though and the paint kept it preserved well.

thanks
terre

I would look through ebay and get an idea of what similar cars like yours are going for . Try to find the title or get a lost title replacement. If the cars was last titled in your name , hopefully your state will have it on file. It might be worth more than you think. Good luck sir, there would be a big market for that car.

Its worth your time to round up a title. Is some states it can be a real pain to get a title for it. The selling price can also take a hit if the title is branded. You might check out Ebay as suggested and get a idea. But to me it seems like everyone on Ebay is trying to just about steal the early Camaro's and not paying what they're really worth.

You might take a look here also. http://www.autotraderclassics.com/fi...FQldagodYCRhKg

Take it to Pomona, slap a 20 grand price tag on it. Anything you do, make it run, drive, polished, clean, etc. will be a plus. Entertain offers, sell to the high bid Sunday afternoon. The market is in the crapper right now, set on it for awhile if you can. Title can be had with a bill of sale, get the paperwork for a lost title. no problem there.

Not sure if the OP was the last registered owner when the paperwork was lost. In Oregon they will only except a bill of sale and file for lost title IF the bill of sale is signed by the last registered owner on file. I had a heck of a time getting a title for one of my Camaro's. I ended up having to pay for a owner search for the car with DMV (I think it was like 20 bucks).

Not sure about other states.... Just something to check into.

When I got home from Viet Nam 4/68 I went straight down to the local chevy dealer and bought a brand new '68 SS/RS 350 hp 396 with a 4 spd. It had 3.08 posi, black vinyl top, marina blue(?) with the white stripe over the front hood and down the sides. It had those ridiculous little red stripe f70x14's that I soon vaporized. The cost out the door was $3888....lot of money back then.

You can pretty much name your price on a first generation Camaro, especially a performance Camaro. Do lots of research and do be too quick to sell it to the first couple of offers.
