68 corvette brake lights

got a 68 'vette with no left brake lights or turn signals. i've checked out the rear lghting harness by powering up the yellow wire that feeds the brake lights and they work so it's not the harness.does anyone have a schematic of the main harness or know where that yellow wire in the main harness gets it's feed from?

Vette Wiring

[color=gold][size=3]Doc here

Try this site, I know it's for a C4 but, the lighting harness is similar....

The Wiring For the rear runs through the Steering column and trunsignal plate too, So Don't forget to look there.

Hope it helps

68 corvette electrical problem

It was the turn signal switch! I found two wires disconnected at the switch. The brake light wire was pulled out of a terminal that holds two wires and the the terminal for the t/s wire was broken off at the switch. Fortunately, I was able to solder everything back together.I don't know if this is a result of using the telescopic steering column (it drags the harness back and forth) or if some wrench before me was a little rough. Anyway, I fixed it,and your advice was much appreciated.

KEWL! Glad to hear it was a "Home Fixable" Problem...

The Telescoping Steering has been a source of major Contention For a lot of the Electrical inside the Column ... The other Major failure is "Stuck" or "Broken" Horn... (mine is the latter...) and Brake lights Et & Al and the ever popular, Turn the key, everything lights up, hit start and "NOTHING"!

Older Vettes... Ya gotta love them.... They have a mind of their own.

Mine is Named after "Christine" the Car in the movie... Pure Evil and jealous...

IF I have a date .. It will Selectively Fail a part and not run, or not run right... Call The Date off... "Autofix"! It runs flawlessly...

Truly Has happened on several occasions but the most notable on my birthday last year, when for no reason the brakes Totally failed in rush hour traffic, And the E~ Brake Was broken...( not just a job, an adventure!) Got it stopped, and towed to the brake shop and there they found nothing wrong, good working brakes!

(I had them replace the whole system anyway Since I had to wait for my date to get her hair Dyed back from gray to Blond anyway...)

Every 28 days or so It runs real Cranky... and drips auto~Trans fluid on the Garage floor...Gains waterweight...

Working on a "Midol Induction System" And a Corvette Sized Famine Napkin....

Regards,

Doc
