68 Firebird carb.
I have a 68 Firebird with the original overhead cam straight six. I have rebuilt the carb, but am not satisfied. I would like to purchase a new one. It looks like a Stromberg 97. If anyone has info regarding a replacement, I would appreciate it. Thanks

The carb number would have been on a tag under one of the air horn screws, IIRC. If it's gone, get a carb kit for one of the following carb numbers, they're some of the Monojet carb numbers used on the Pontiac 6 OHC engine: 1 bbl Rochester Monojet • 7028065 • 7028075 • 7028067 • 7029165 • 7029166 • 7029167 If you had the Sprint option, the engine would have come w/a Q-jet, bigger cam and higher compression. I had one in a '68 LeMans, ran good for what it was, about like a strong SBC 283. |
If you rebuilt the carb as you say, how is it you don't know what carb it is or even whether it's a one or two barrel? Did you buy a rebuild kit or just open it up and clean it out?
