68 firebird rear disc brakes

has anyone sucessfully put early 80's camaro REAR disc brakes onto a 68 camaro/firebird??

I've got a 10 bolt rear end uner my 68' firebird.. it has staggrered rear shocks, and I managed to pick up an early 80's Camaro rear disc brake setup, however, if I am insalling it correctly the calipers though staggered, are staggrered in the wrong direction (the bolt up with the drivers side caliper to the rear of the axle and the passenger side to the fron, and because of the shock locations the calipers need to be drivers side mounted to the FRONT, and PAssenger side mounted to the rear)

thanks

Have you tried to use the drivers caliper bracket on the passanger and vise versa? If you have the whole axle you might be able to just swap the new 10 for the old 10 bolt?

Rear disc

I don't know about 80's but a guy I know installed 93 camaro rear disc on his 67 camaro. That is what these kits in the mags are 93 style camaro rear disc brakes. I'm going to put them on my 68 400 bird. Hope this helps.

I successfully put a 10 bolt rear end out of a 70 camaro into my 68 firebird.
I purchased custom backing plates from SCAREBIRD.com which i mated with rotors and calipers from a 79 trans am which are available from most parts stores. Scarebird took really good care of me. the product is all laser cut and tig welded.

another option would be to use a trans am WS6 rear end which already has the backing plates, calipers and rotors.
