I have a 69 firebird, beautiful car and 400 hp 350. I have replaced everything engine and interior wise but im too keen on suspension. Is there any kind of suspension that would help this car put that power to the ground? Everything is stock in the rearend im sure, so any advice would be wonderful.

Depending on the rear end and the trani, I would
stick a couple of Lakewood traction bars under there.I am guessing that you have a Turbo 400 trani, in which case a 12bolt possi rear end and these traction bars should help you out!

A posi rear end in either a 10 or 12 bolt will hel your traction a bit. A nice set of good tires with a nice soft compound should help traction too.

If your 69 is like my 68 with mostly original factory parts and you can talk the significante other (if applicable) in your life to pass off on the cost a great baseline package is the "G machine kit" from <a href="http://www.performancesuspension.com." target="_blank">www.performancesuspension.com.</a> Install those better than original componets and start from there. If youve already installed some of those items, pick and choose componets left. Always remember that Poncho are torque monsters and are different than most other hot rod motors. ( thats why the hard core pontiackers drive them)and plan with that in mind so you dont have to do it again. Hook up (like you are doing) with other bird owners that can tell you about their expensive mistakes and then DONT DO THAT, and you get where you want to go quicker and cheaper. I have owned and raced all the poncho blocks from 326 to 455 since 1974 (with the exception of the elusive 421)with most tranny combos so plse feel free to ask and I'll pitch my 2 cents in..

Parrot Head is right about Ponchos and torque. It really depends on how hard you want to launch too. Street or strip. Occasional tire burning or E.Ts at the strip. If you are like most of us you should look into ParrotHeads advice and load up the suspension components with the best. Another company I have found for my 68 Camaro (cousin to the Bird) is GlobalWest in California. They have some great componnents that replace the stock ones with heavy duty. I personally don't like slappers or traction bars. I found a great set of springs to replace my worn out originals did the trick for me. But then my 68 is 450hp and set up for the street.
