Does the FB Ignition Switch go to a plug in the bottom of the steering Column?
If that is the case, you should get a switch and harness from the autoparts store or bone yard to replace it..reason for being is that the harness inside the column most likely is burned up too (and may even have caused the short in the fist place) By repairing the wires it will (may) just burn out again..
The ballast Resistor is simple..
Just locate the resistor (usually at or near where the old coil was) and disconnect it, then splice the wires back together..That will fix that.
