I always cringe if the customer does the assembly...I hope this customer has some experience in putting a car back together....I just know all to well that often the guy putting in an engine doesn't have the same respect for the detail in paint work under the hood as the guy that painted it...just from experience...and the infamous question after, "can you just touch this up?"
Not to worry, as this guy is pretty careful with this type of work. I have known this guy quite a few years, he has a lot of real nice cars but has had this one since the late eighties. He approached me to do this car about 7 years ago, but was not willing to spend what I wanted. As time went by, he has come to the realization that he is not getting any younger and wanted this car done. As there are a few others that could have done this around here, he just did not trust any one else with this car as everything on it was original GM sheetmetal. You know how parts disappear sometimes and are replaced with after market, that was his biggest worry. I found this out afterwards.
