69 chevy rear end help

I have a 69 chevy truck. I do not like the original gear ratio, its to low. I would like to go to get a better gear ratio rearend from the salvage yard that will help me get the best use out of my 350 engine. I have a set of 20's with 6 lugs. I would like a diifferent rear end that I can also use the same rims with. I need some advise.

I think the 6-cylinder trucks from that era came with numerically higher gear ratios than the V-8 ones. Look for '63-'69 for 6-lug units that are the same width as yours. They went to a wider rear end sometime during the '70 model year, but both widths had the 6-lug pattern. 5-lug wheels started in '71.
