69 Ford F100
Greetings
So I'm new to this forum and to working on old trucks in general. I have a 1969 Ford F100 240 Inline 6. I drive it almost daily around town. Recently I went to start the truck and it would not start. I checked the battery and also tried to jump start it off another vehicle. No luck. I’m thinking it’s the starter but wanted to reach out for input. Register now (free) or login to remove ads |

You mean won't start as in not even turn over I take it? If so yeah by all means dive into the eletrical system. First off check all the connections from the battery to the starter. Use a screwdriver to arc the solenoid and see if it starts, if so then that usually means the solenoid is no good.
If it does nothing then remove the starter and have it tested. |

Thanks for the help.
Correct it will not turn over at all. At first it made a ticking noise. So I thought is was the battery. Thats when I tried to jump off from another car. I will try the screw driver. |

Replace all the ground wires. Ground motor to frame and frame to firewall. Grind off paint and run new grounds on bare metal if you have to.
