69 gmc 350 q-jet

how can i have quicker response when i open up the throttle, the secondaries are slow about kicking in.

change the secondary springs
put a bigger accelerator pump in the primary

The Q-jets don't have replaceable secondary springs, they have an air valve return spring that you can adjust. You also want to assure that the secondary accelerator circuit is complete. The tubes have a tendency to drop out after many years of service.
