69 impala wagon??

my grandpa owns a 69 impala wagon that he bought brand new in 1969 with a big block 396, i dont know what tranny it has in it but it has been sitting for years in his orchard, the rats have done their damage to the interior and in the engine compartment. the exterior is rusty and the tires are flat. i could post pictures of it in a day or two. but based on what i have written does anyone have an estimate on what you think it would be worth?

thanks
terre

howdy there

surely a th400 in such a car.

well it cant be that rusty if its a santa cruz car.,, whats your definition of rusty?

heres mine and is typical rust here in IL:

a 69 wagon with no real rust other than surface rust etc i think would be worth at least an easy 1500 if its straight not beat up and has all the parts intact.

ive never seen a 69 wagon and such a thing is RARE and long gone here due to demolition derbies etc in which is the largest event around here.

id crap my pants if i ever saw such an old wagon

i couldnt imagine

and drool all over it,

i cant believe such an old car especially a wagon could still possibly be sititng around still in existence. thats crazy rare!

good luck

well yes i guess it could be defined as surface rust throughout the body, i think a limb fell on the roof and slightly bent it and bent or broke the chrome roof rack. its a matching number car, that i believe my grandpa used to tow his dragster from state to state, unfortunately my uncle stole the power steering pump and two of the head lights many years ago. i dont think it would take much to get it running, probably a cap and rotor, plugs, wires and some new hoses., water and an oil change. but maybe i will post some pictures of it within the next few days to get a more accurate response. thanks

Is it a 2 Bbl. or 4 bbl.? "Yes Virginia......." there was a 396 2 Barrel in 1969. I had one in a '69 Impala Custom. It was a gas guzzling gutless slug.

He doesn't get it, that "rare" and "valuable" are not the same thing!!!

well i believe that it is a 4 barrel q-jet, but i could be wrong, i couldn't get the hood open i think because of all the leaves and stuff. but, i was just wondering because my grandpa wants to take it to pick and pull but i don't think he should and i wanted to take pics of it and post it on craigslist but i really have no idea what something like this would be worth, and if its not worth much at all i might as well take the engine out of it then have him haul it off to pick and pull.

396 is big enough. go with a over-under drive behind th. 400 trans. it would get good(22 mpg) with a little work. i have a good size famly 6 people average of 200 lbs .they can't all fit into my '48 dodge 4 door coup.choptop , so i was looking for wagon. I have a '63 chevy carry all 350-350 p/s p/b also. had to buy a 99 olds shiloutte van to carry famly around. paid too much for van and still paying for it.not too impressed, and repairs taking away from working on the ones i want to keep.
a lot of people might want that car. I say keep it or sell it as a hole car.won't cost anything to see if you have any takers, just a little time. you can advertise here on for sale site.never know

o wow, sounds like you have a few cool projects going on? ya i mean it would be a really cool car to restore and have fun with but my main focus is on my camaro right now, and my dad has a 53 chevy pickup that would probably come first in the restoration process. i just dont know anything about this wagon, like if its rare, valuable, or otherwise. i mean my grandpa wanted to take it to pick and pull, i wasn't feeling that was such a good idea so i thought i would ask.

thanks

I bought one off my dad when I was in high school. It was a 327 powerglide car I drove it home gave $400 for it. It took 2nd in the demo that year It was rotted bad. I'd pull the drive train out of it and let some one demo the rest good old station wagons are getting kinda hard to find. It should have a 12 bolt rear I'd keep that too but I'm a pack rat.

Some of the interior and trim pieces are worth something. There was a guy on craigslist looking for a tilt column for a 69 Impala around here the other day. The stainless molding around the windows might bring a little extra scratch. List it on e bay and part it out then sell the body for a couple hundo, if the radiator is in good shape it I'd probably keep it too it might be larger since your car is a BB car.
