69 Nova 700R4 conversion

I have a 1969 Nova. I have a 350SB and a TH350 with 3.08 posi in the rear. I don't seem to have any launch power. I have been told to switch to a 700R4 because of its first gear ratio as well as highway ability. My question is; will this be a difficult conversion, other than shortening my driveline and moving cross member any other obstacles to look for?

Not really much hassle, but I dont think it will help your launch, unless you go to a steeper gear than the 3.08s....Maybe at least a 3.55 or 3.73. That way, coupled with the overdrive, you would have better launch and still be able to cruise on the highway at a decent RPM.

I know my limits, they include changing my rearend gears. I will need to take to a shop. But for the record if it is for a weekend show or Saturday driver, which would be better? Knowing I have a nice launch and doing it regularly are two different things.

If it were mine, I would leave it as is...or, just put steeper gears in it.....just a weekend cruiser..........and you dont need to take it on the highway.

That is still a possibility as well. It has been at paint and body for 2 months, I may just have to much time on my hands.
