6DEUCE Impala questions.....

1) We have a 454 pulled from a 76' wagon, it looks like it has been sitting since 76'.(obviosly needs to be worked), Or a 350 crate motor(header's intake, exhaust). Which one do you think i should put in the car??? anyone....? also would the chassis need any modification or stiffening?

2)How could I use the stock rearend with one of these motors?... does anyone know a company that sells aftermarket parts for a 62's rearend to beef it up, also put gears in.

3)what should i do for a driveshaft?

4)how could I do a front disc brake conversion CHEAP? I have acess to many parts, mostly "G" bodied cars such as a 86' monte SS,Regal,Grand Prix. Would any of these parts converse with the 62'?

5)how does the freakin glass come out?????????? haha i dont want to ruine the chrome.

6)anyone have a front or rear bumper???

7)anyone have any Impala badges?

I apreciate all the help i can get here guys... Thanks alot -Jake

6DEUCE Impala questions.....

Welcome to the site. It would be appropriate to introduce yourself in the "Hotrodders' Lounge - Sub-Forums: Introduce Yourself" located closer to the bottom of the page.

Question #1 - The 454 will have more wow factor and you may need to upgrade the springs but you could probably use the stock ones for a 409. The chassis should not need stiffing. The crate motor will not have the wow factor but would be a simple job.

Question #2 - This is a link to the rearend you have in it now:

http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/48618/index11.html

This is a link to rear ends of the period:

http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/48618/

This is a link to rear end widths:

http://50chevy.freeservers.com/Suspe...tml#Suspension

Find something in this array of information or order an aftermarket Ford 9 inch.

Question #3 - If you use the 454 have one built by a truck driveshaft rebuilder.

Question #4 - can't help you there.

Question #5 - Try to find access to a Hollander manual or ask a local glass supplier.

Question #6&7 - place a free wanted ad in the classifieds at the top of the page.

You can also do a search (search button on top of the page) on some of these questions to see what has been said before and you can go to the Knowledge Base and look around there.

You will probably want to look into changing your transmission as well.

#5......There is a rubber gasket around the windshield. If you have no experience with this, let a shop do it.
