6v to 12v conversion
Allright, to pass inspection here in Manitoba the tailights and turning signals must be 12 volts. BUT, what if you got a 6v vehicle? Then you'd have to make them 12v to pass safety.
How easy is this task? How much money and skill are involved?
What exactly has to be done for them to be 12v? Would the whole electrial system have to be replaced?

6 Volt to 12 Volt changeover
All the light bulbs, head lights, tail lights, turn signal, dash and overhead lights all changed to 12 volt bulbs. Then the coil and the charging system will need to be brought up to date, 12 volt alternator and battery. If you use a 12 volt generator you'll need a 12 volt voltage regulator also.

You need a 12V starter, alternator and battery. While you're at it, you can grab a 12V distributor and coil from a junk yard for about $20, unless you go with an HEI whcih I would do. And that will run you about $50 used. So if you get all your parts from Bucks there in Winnipeg, it could be done for pretty cheap. What kind of engine are we talking about here? inline 6 or V8? I imagine it's for the 58 you are lookig at so it would more than likely be a 235 inline 6.

Yeah it'd actually be for a 51' Chevy (chekc in my photo gallery) but I don't think I'll get that truck anymore since I'd be in a 1.5k debt.
I'm still interested how to do this cause I will eventually get a project car and I need to learn as much as possible.
The '58 already has 12 volts, according to the owner.
