Post 7.5 gear change

my 78 buick gears are gone, driveshaft just spins. ive changed a chevy ring gear before but never a pinion.i have some gears from an S-10 I would like to swap out, wondering how much more dificult it would be changing ring n pinion. yeah the swap would be 2.41 to about 3.40-3.73 not sure.any help appreaciated.

not the same rearend, not a compatible swap, check your spider gear shaft they had a bad wear and breakage problem.

there both 7.5 inch 10 bolt rear ends

YES they are both 7.5 rears but gm. did a redesign in 88 that changed the size and number of axle splines and side gears , axles are not interchangable

I think it came out of an 86, not sure. any sugestions on how to tell. Thanks

the only way to tell is to pull the rear cover compare the two, if they are the same you are in luck.
