70 Stage 1 Buick Body by Fisher Tag: Know of someone who restamps them?

I found a 70 GS 455 Stage 1 car that is rough, but restorable... Problem is that the cowl tag is missing.... I am in the process of documenting it through the various Buick Historical people. Does anyone know who reproduces the "Body by Fisher" body tag? This car is going back to bone stock, none of this crap where people change tag info to make a more desirable car.... Thanks-
Matt

Also am looking for a 7040246 Quadrajet, if anyone has any leads...

I'll check with a few people I know and see what I can come up with.

BTW, I have the '70 stage one factory emblems.

re: 70 Stage 1 Buick Body by Fisher Tag: Know of someone who restamps them?

There is a guy in NJ i have used and does perfect work, he will be listed in Hemmings as forgot his name.

Problem is he wants a picture or a pencil copy of the old tag and copy of registration.

You also have another problem, someone took that tag and most likely made your car from a better body and using you serial number. Could be a big issue.

Cost is about $35-75.

Here is a picture of a tag he made for me in 1992, not a great picture as it rainy today so light was bad and car has not been cleaned in six months.

That is what I was thinking...better pull all of the serials and see exactly what you have.

I think that guy is AG Backeast. I've used him a couple times but did have to send proof of ownership, but I didn't have the original body tag to photocopy for him. I don't think the VIN number is on the Body by Fisher tag so it shouldn't really matter if someone else has it on their car. Unless the VIN tag is missing too!
EDIT: Looks like there IS a body sequence number on there.

Body Tag

I think I might have lucked out, then.... The Vin is still intact on the dash. It is also intact on the driver's door jam. The motor is a "SS" stage one motor that is matching the Vin. Doesn't have the tranny, though for further verification. (the tranny is the root of all evil with this car- the orig owner blew up the m21, took it to a shop, was talked into putting a turbo 350 it it. Obviously, it shelled, and he took it back for another tranny. He didn't have the $ to pay, so the car sat at the tranny shop since the mid 80's. From there, someone pulled the windshield, and there it sat, being eaten by the harsh Virginia weather.) I also have the title last issued in 1986. Sending the documentation shouldn't be a problem, but I don't have an original of the body tag.

Does he restamp the Vin tags as well? My vin is badly corroded from sitting open to the elements... it is decipherable, but looks pretty hammered....

Lonestar- let me know what you want for the emblems... and if you have any other buick parts....

re: 70 Stage 1 Buick Body by Fisher Tag: Know of someone who restamps them?

I have lucked out so far in regards to a repro tag, but it sounds like a good lead has been given. I am trying to get in touch with some of the guys that worked at Fisher for more info.

PM me in regards to the emblems.

Did you run the vin numbers to verify authenticity? Those are great looking cars in my opinion, and nothing should be spared getting it back into form.

I will have to go look, but I think I still have a Stage 1 engine and some Stage 2 accessories, but I don't know if I am willing to sell...I have a '64 GS convertable with a 364...completely in pieces and what is left of a '70 GSX for which if I ever get to it I may want the parts.

Stage 1 Vin

Yep- the vin is good- it corresponds to the factory in Flint, Mi, which was the only place that built Stage 1 cars... also, the vin contains Stage 1 specific numbers, as well as the motor being a verified Stage 1 motor. One interesting thing on this car- it came with aluminum finned front brake drums, and had a dealer installed Edelbrock B4B intake as well as dealer installed Mallory Dual Point ignition... I have both the intake and ignition, just need the 7040246 carb and it's good to go... I am in process of verifying everything with Buick Historical and another museum, of which I can't remember the name off hand.... A also need a bell housing and a shifter, but they pop up on Ebay every now and then.....
Am definately going to follow up on ibell101's lead to find out if this guy is still restamping... and I agree- it's a sharp car- unfortunately what has been to this one is vile- the amount of cancer on her is brutal... I have found a good 70 skylark in Texas that will serve as a donor car... lots of cut and weld, but at least it will be with an original, not the Taiwan aftermarket stuff...

If the numbers check, then it is definately worth restoring...I love those Buicks.

Great find and keep us posted as to how it's coming along.

From your pics, it looks like you still have the emblems, so do you need more?

Stage 1 Body Tag

Yeah - the one that's on it is hammered. The other one is missing. If you have two nice ones, I am definitely interested. Let me know how much.
Thanks -
