700 R4 Build-up Help please
Let me start out first by saying HI to everyone here!
My project is a 1959 Chevy 3100 truck- 454 MPFI Vortec engine, backed with a 89, 700R4 tranny.
Well, to make a long story short, this is the second time I have pulled the tranny out! This is my first trans rebuild(with some help from a friend), Needless to say I missed a few check balls the first time, second time I figured out that the TV boost valve was only .365 dia., causing LOW boost and smoking the band and 3-4 clutch pack.
Now I have ordered the Z-pak, 1-2 & 3-4 pinless accumulators with heavy springs, 4th Super servo, 2nd Corvette servo, The Beast sun shell, and Raybestos clutch packs. The pump is being rebuilt with 10 vane impeller, .500 boost valve and new spring.
I have a question about the ball capsule that is installed in the case near the servo. I have read a few tricks that say to put a .385 plug in there and remove the check capsule. I have also read that it should be replaced with a new capsule. Does anybody have the best idea for this? I understand a leak here causes 3-4 slipping.
Thanks for any help!
