700 R4 tv cable hook up at carb

My motor, intake and Quadrajet carb came from a 79 truck that originally had a 3sp. auto. I've put a 700 R4 behing it and I have to hook up the tv cable to the carb. I got a bracket that bolts to the back two bolts on the carb that'll anchor the throttle cable and the 700 R4's tv cable. There's a spot to hook the cable to the carb linkage but it's just a hole. I checked out a car with OD that had the same carb, hoping to rob the small piece I needed to hook the cable to but it's rivetted on. Short of some carb disassembly is there an easy way to fasten the cable to the carb? I've seen replacement tv cables that come with extra cable and an adjustable stop at the carb end. Maybe I could rig up something with one of those?

The Holley and Edelbrock do require a special linkage extender for the 700 to work properly.

If you measure an early, non-700 type qjet to a later 700 type qjet, you will notice a difference in the linkage and the length from the center line of the throttle shaft to where the TV cable mounts. You MUST match the distance that the later 700 stye qjet linkage uses! I've been told that there is now a Qjet linkage adaptor to correct this on the earlier carbs (I need one too!) but have not looked for it yet.

You can also find some good info Here!!!

correct geometry

I checked out the site with the pictures of the correct geometry and I've done some measuring but the measurements are a bit out. My carb and bellcrank look like the carb on the left in figure 17. The hole I wanted to use looks like it will be perpendicular at 1/4 throttle but according to the geometry picture the distance from ths shaft axis to the tv cable pin should be 1.094" to 1.125" (I assume center to center). The hole I was going to use is actually 1.1875" (1 3/16") so it looks like it's a bit off. Even if it was the right distance it's just a 5/16 hole. Apparently I can buy a carb lever stud (Walker #72-1350) which is the information I was originally fishing for but now I need to fix the attachment point to get 1.094 to 1.125".

Options?

How hard is it to remove the bellcrank and shaft that runs through the carb? If I had it off I could properly place the stud or I could swap it for one off a parts carb that has the proper geometry.
Also, is the geometry the same for the 200 4r because the possible donor I'm thinking of has an od but I don't know if it's a 700 or 200.
