Post 700r help

I just bought another blazer with a 700r. It wouldn't back up and didn't shift very well in forward and as you can guess, I didn't pay much for it. I moved the tv cable some and got it to shift a little better. I now have changed the fluid and filter and pumped as much as I could out. Fluid was very dirty and filter had much dirt in the center of the fold. 12 quarts total. Once the fluid was changed the tv cable needed further adjustment. Now, considering it probably has 150000+ miles, it shifts pretty good in all forward gears and also does lock up. Reverse slips if you use heavy throttle but with low power it is not too bad. I am trying to milk it until I have time to try my own rebuild. Any hints on further things I could try.
Thanks

Not much you can do with 150K miles on it... You must remember it takes 7 times the pressure to move in reverse as it does in forward... You might try some transX to clean some of the build up that has accumlated over the years...? I see a rebuild in your future...
