So I have a 700r in my 92 olds and after doing the trans I get reverse only when the trans is cold as it warms up I lose it, does anyone have any ideas what could be happening?

Ive nevr rebuilt a transmission before but ill try to help you. As oil warms up it gets thinner. It could be anything major to minor. Might be an aculator piston a worn servo. Worn out hard parts. I dont believe its a sprag cause if the sprag was bad it wouldnt move at all in reverse. I come more to saying its something with a valve or piston. I have a 4l60e that i just pulled out of my truck i dont like them too much cause they dont seem to last. Ive had it rebuilt at a reputable shop. Mine is basicly an over reworked 700r4 with an electronic valve body.

well its got a new tci constant preasure valve body in it im just at a loss as to what would be going on

check line psi first if low look at the regulator valve in the pump plus the boost valve and the low and reverse valve there locted in the pump under the pressure regulator spring get both valves from sonnax

It could be a simple cheap snap ring. Usually its the less expensive part that causes a huge load of problems.

so i talked with a guy at a transmission place today about a checkball and retainer in the trans side that as far as i see in the book controls reverse exhaust i took it out cause tci told me to but the guy at the trans place said i should have left it in cause it wont control any function of the valve body so now im confused on who to believe ill try to get a psi gauge in the next couple of days its getting hard cause this trans is eating up every last dollar i make and ill let you know if it has low preasure i know the boost valve in the pump is good cause its a brand new one the tci valve body made me put in
