700R Shifting Hard and Late

Coupled with my smoking engine, I'm having a tad bit of transmission trouble, but not as bad.

I've got a custom TV cable bracket setup on my Q-Jet, pulling good 78*, so I know that's right. At WOT, I connected the TV cable at full pull. However, I'm getting late, slow, hard shifts. Pretty much, I can get it to shift 1-2 at 35 hammering it, but at partial throttle and 20, it takes a good 5 seconds of steady throttle for it to shift. Either way it's hard and actually cause my u-joints to complain a bit.

2-3's pretty much the same, but ALOT smoother.

I'm thinking I need to adjust the cable, but I'm not sure which way to go. Also, how tight should the cable be? Like, how hard should it be to pull. Mine's VERY easy and loose, almost like it's not even connected...

the cable must be tight at wot for the trans to work right.

Ya, I've got that adjusted correctly, all out at WOT, but I mean pulling on the cable itself is very easy, its really loose feeling like it's not pulling on anything in the trans.

Solved it. I didn't know there was a vacuum line that went to the trans. Hooked it up and everything's smooth as silk now.

There is no vacuum line on a 700r4 trans. Only the TV cable
