700r Transmission

I have a 82 chevy with the 700r tranny. It was shifting fine up until about a month ago. I replaced the governor which wasn't working right but in front of the governor I discovered the case wiring has no power to it, key on or off. I follwed the hot lead to the back of the fuse panel. Question is can I reroute that hot lead from something else without having to pull the fuse box out? Also is it supposed to have power with key on or off?

thank you,

Todd

It only has power when the vacuum is low enough to lock the Torque Converter Clutch in 4th gear.

IF your vehicle still has the vacuum switch inline with the 12 volt power source to the 700r4 trans... it will provide power(12 volts) to the trans with high vacuum.

This setup would unlock the converter clutch IF the vacuum dropped low enough ( as you apply throttle) .
