700R wiring on non computer 1962 truck

I recently put a shift kit in a 700R I pulled out of a 1987 camaro. The kit provided instructions on regualar shifting or manual shift only. Does the wiring on this transmisssion have anything to do with the shifting time and performance or is it for the converter to lock up. What if I run a non-lock up converter B&M 2500 stall should I anticipate problems? If i need this wiring hooked up , can I do it on my older 1962 chevrolet pick up? thanks.........

The above should help you out a good bit on wiring it up.

It is my experience that the wiring only deals with locking up the converter. You do not want to put a non lockup converter on a transmission that was made for one.

If you install a non-lock-up converter, you will have to change around some things in the tranny. Otherwise you will have problems! The wiring has nothing to do with the shift timing, it is only to lock up the converter. The TV cable controls shifting. Make sure you get it set right!
