700r4

I have a 700r4 sitting in a 1985 FWD Blazer. I was wondering what I would have to do to use the tranny in my 81 firebird (350ci chevy) would I be able to just find a tail shaft at a salvage?

Among other small things you will need the tailshaft, tailshaft housing, and speedometer gearset.

Thanks M&M I was just wanting to make sure that it would not be a cluster to make the 4x4 tranny work. Sounds like a trip to the salvage and a few bucks will have me fixed up! Think I am going to try to rebuild it my self

An 85 700R4 is not the best place to start IMO. 700R4's prior to about 89 or 90 have some serious design problems.

The 85 can be upgraded to the newer and better stuff, but it takes more work and money to do it, the stockers to look for (from what I found out being on here for so long now) are the 1988 model at a minimum.
