Do they make a different filter for a truck that I should use with the aluminum pan which is deeper than the pan that came on my transmission?
Thanks

the thread you read may have been about a 4L60E trans? Different filters used from a 700r4 type of trans.
GM changed to a deeper pan design on the truck 4L60E trans in the 90's... some folks install the filter for the shallow pan and this filter can fall out of the pump IF a deep pan is used
Some aluminum pans have raised stubs in the bottom of the pan to support the filter so it does not vibrate out.
Did you measure or check the depth of the filter compared to the pan depth?
Some deep aluminum pans come with a filter extension tube for a deeper pan.
