Spacers should've been included.
If you only had to slide the TC forward .040" the TC wasn't completely installed into the Pump gears. You should've had much more clearance without using Spacers. This wouldn't affect the alignment tho'.

Is it possible that this TC is not meant for a 700r4? the pilot was all boogered up... i wonder if the previous owner tried to force a th350 converter into this trans with a hammer? lol it would make sense.. thus demolishing the front pump bearing... i'm going to measure the hub diameter when i get home. I've seen people do crazier stuff.

Well, I don't have a lot of spare time this year and i'm sick of messing with this thing, for the time being my plan is to pull the 700, put my 'stock' th350 back in this thing just to get the car mobile.

In the meantime i'm going back to the drawing board, either i'm going to have this 700 inspected and built to my specs, get a 2004R built to my specs (won't need an adapter), go with a manual, or my last choice is to rebuild my TH350 with a different 1-2 ratio and retain a numerically lower rear gear. but there's something odd going on here with this 700...
