looking for some help with a 700r4, the Id says that the trans is a 91 but when pan was removed it does not have the aux valve body? The pump has the 732 last digits and 30 spline tubine shaft is this possible to run this trns with this valve body? The pump does not have the hole for the aux tube looks like late 84 pump (maybe)? This is the K case 4x4 that I plan on installing in my 73 chevy 4x4 non computerized engine. any help would be appreciated.

Some up to 93 are that way. If the body came with the case then yes

if the trans is a 1991 unit... somebody has changed stuff. If there is a flat plate on the trans where the aux valve body should be, you can remove the plate and see if there are several holes there that would indicate the aux valve body was there at one time.

Some body may have bolted on earlier v-body parts for a hydraulic controlled TCC system is a guess

They made a few without a aux valve body and even early 4l60s, not many though. My trans is one of them but i used a 93 4l60 front pump on mine with 93 and up internals in a 91 700 case. As long as you get or have the right separator plate you can remove the aux body or add it and plug or un plug the pump and it will work just fine.

I have never seen a late 1987 to 1993 4l60 series trans with out an aux valve body on it or at least the the case configured for it.

I build 250 - 300 of these trans a year. Must be a rarity

I pulled one in a junk yard out of a 93 camaro for parts and have rebuilt 2 others about 5 years ago. But i havent seen another one since but it would seem that stranger has one .

I doubt that. Too many folks have swapped parts around over the years.

The 732 pump body could easily have an early stator cover swapped on to it. If you know how to match up the old and newer parts, anything is possible.

As I mentioned, a spot in the case at the rear valve body area will identify the case for an aux valve body.

Thanks for the input will look under the plate were the aux valve body is supose to be, the 732 pump does not have the hole for the aux tube this I am sure of, it is good news that I this unit will work!!! will post what I find in the next couple days

I have ripped hundreds and hundreds of 700s over the years. I have never seen a non-aux after 1986.

So, my first inclination is to question whether the transmission is really a 1991. Just because it was in a 1991 does not mean that it came there originally.

What is the number stamped on the rear passenger pan rail? That will tell us the exact year of the case (though not necessarily the year of any other parts).

The first nuber is 1 Ill get the rest of them when I go back into the shop the trans was obtained from someone who had it out !! will get the complete numbers later and post them

That number shows the case is a 91 model.

Been there, I am aware that it is a 91 its the valve body that I have a question about,if indeed the case is a 91 then there sould be an aux type valve body. The trans I have does not have it?
