700r4 change over
I am getting a 700r4 for my 55 chevy the guy im getting the 700r4 from said it's none electric. and a freind said it needs lock up, can someone tell me if i need more. it's a 1989 trans. Bob

Your post is a little confusing. I believe that the guy you are buying it from is referring to this transmission as a non-electric 4l60. In the later years the 4l60(700r4) was changed over to a 4l60E which must be controlled by a computer. The 1989 is a lock up transmission that the lockup convertor can be controlled by a computer(factory in the later years) or with an aftermarket lockup kit such as B&M or TCI. It is even possible to fabricate/create your own torque convertor lock up kit. Please post some more information about your vehicle and exactly what you are trying to accomplish. Good Luck.
