700r4 clicking in 3rd and 4th gear

fresh rebuild with new converter 1990 trans that has a modified valve body you shift in to 4th any time after 40 mph and it locks up no 12 volt power it then starts making noise down shift to third and the noise is faster could they have messed up my valve body this is real annoying .can a valve body do that it looks like a 1990 valve body what they do to it for lock up ther is no bore in the body like they had in the early 80 in non ecm vehicles with hyd lock up. thank for looking any response is apreciated wayne,,,,

700r noise

I suggest that you crawl under the thing and find the wire that accuates the lock-up solenoid, then make a jumper wire into the car, add a toggle switch and hook the switch to 12v. Run it down the road and then throw the switch and see if it locks-up the way it should and see if the noise disappears. If it does go away then its a control problem, if it still acts the same it is a part or mechanical problem.. Could simply be a weak or shorted solenoid for the lock-up. On inhouse rebuilds many of the shops do not replace this submersable coil and many times thats why they get rebuilt because they are not shifting right. Just a qualified guess here.
