700R4 Clutch Pack Air Check
Rebuilding a 1991 700r4, (first time) I have assembled the input drum and did a 40 psi air test per the video, the 3-4 pack and the forward clutch appear to have no air loss, for the overrun seems to have a slight leak down, I can hear the piston engage and disengage. But I can hear a slight hissing. I have disassembled it and checked the seals a couple times. I can’t seem to find any post pertaining to this.
Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated, I have read the majority of post on this forum and believe I have learned a great deal from it. Mike |

normal air check of the o-r clutches. You want the o-r clutches to come off and the forwards remain applied as you air check. |
Thanks for the fast response, I will look into it more before I continue. Not in a big hurry. I not rebuilding out of desperation or trying to save a buck, it's in a spare vehicle and pull and disassemble as many time as necessary. Its been enjoyable this far, but the books/video seem to be lacking some.
Thanks again! |
