I was told that 700's won't stay locked up in 4th if beyond 3/4 throttle. That only the corvette 700's would. Maybe what i was told isn't true, or maybe you have to modify them. That is one of the reasons (plural) that is why i chose the 200-4r. I hope someone with 700 experience will jump in, and tell us why for sure.

Years ago, we had the police cars with the 700 r4 in them. we were told then that the trannys were from corvettes and they would stay locked up at high speed. Actualy the motors were the corvette motors also. I believe it has something to do with one of the presure valves in the 4th gears side of the valve body. No tranny expert, i am, i am, so that is why i chose the 200-4r. Actualy i chose it for alot of reason over the 700. We burned up alot of 700 in those years. Actualy, we were lucky, chevrolet replaced them under warrenty. We had one setting at the dealership ready to put in so we wouldn't have no down time,.

There are now 4 sizes of servos,
the smallest was used behind the Inline 4/6 cylinder-8642554
2nd is the V6/V8 servo 8642553
The newest size is used in the 4l70E Police PAckage PPV(Police Persuit Vehicle) Tahoes-24229159
And the standard Corvette servo 8642093

The Corvette used a higher stalling TC, the 1995+ V6 S10's used the same guts in their TC's and code DBLF. Because this TC softens the shifts a tad, GM used a larger apply area Vette servo to firm up the shift. The DBLF L35 1995+ S-10 V^ TC when mounted behond my stock 97 Vortec 350 L31 allows for a brake stall of 2800rpm. A nice boost in launch and reduction in rpm drop during WOT upshifts.

This new 4l70E servo is in between the V6 and Vette servo.

Here is some info from Sonnax
