700r4 convertor lock wiring

Hello everyone I'm new to hotrodders and I have a question concerning 700r4 convertor lockup. I recently installed a 1985 Camaro z28 700r4 into my 1985 s10 w/a350 .The s10 originally had a 700r4 but the external wiring plug was a two wire setup (one from a vacum switch under the hood the other from the brake light switch) The z28 trans has a three wire plug , is it possible to use the existing Blazer set up to correctly control lockup on the Z28 trans?I do still have the wiring pigtail for the Z28 trans. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You should be able to use the existing brake switch and if it doesn't have a vacuum switch you can get one at jegs.com

Thanks for the reply. My s10 blazer is equipped with both a vacum and brake switch I just need to know which wire from the s10blazer goes to which terminal on the Z28 trans and what each wire and terminal controls? Thanks again

The commons switched rigs are the purple wire from the brake switch is fed +12. The green wire off the firewall vacuum switch is grounded. Controlling these parameters governs the TCC behavior on / off.

700r4 wiring

Thanks for the response, I see the brake light switch supplies 12+ to the purple wire on the trans ,any advice on which one of the other two wires(color or location) would I use for the vacuum switch wire and what is the third wires use? Thanks for the help

The vacuum switch connects to Terminal A on the trans and energizes lockup. You will want to interrupt it when braking to disable lockup

According to the instructions that came wtih my 700 regarding the connector on the trans:
Terminal A takes 12v fused power
Terminal B is not used
Terminal C no pin present in many 700s
Terminal D takes an optional, manual locking switch

If using a Bosch relay, which is suggested, wire the relay as follows
Terminal 30 takes a fused 12v switched power source, on w IGN
Terminal 85 goes to ground
Terminal 86 is spliced into your brake light
Terminal 87 is not used
Terminal 87a connects to Terminal A on the trans

If using a vacuum switch, splice it inline with 87a that goes to terminal A

I like the idea of automatic lockup over a vacuum switch, in which case a GM style brake switch can be used to interrupt the power going to Terminal A on the trans, otherwise

If you want a manual lockup switch, to lock the trans for towing etc, splice it between with the wire that goes to Terminal D from Terminal A

The pinout of the 4-pin connector on the trans is usually as follows
Terminals A and B are ajacent to the locking tab and face the front of the vehicle, Terminal D is next to, or behind Terminal A, Terminal C, at the 2:00 position, is blank towards the rear of the vehicle. Here is a pic
