I am putting a 700r4 into a 67 chevy pickup this weekend. I have everything in order for it. I have built an adjustable bracket for the detent cable. I have heard that this cable needs to be adjusted perfectly or my tranny won't last long. How will I know it's adjusted correctly?
If I remember right it needs to be tight just to the point of pulling the mechanism inside of the trans, basically take all of the play out or it will not shift correectly and will burn up the overdrive portion of the trans, happened to a buddy of mine.
I think what you are asking is how? on the detent there is a lock you need to press this in and pull the cable all the way back then release the lock. then to adjust simply move linkage to wide open throttle quickly and you are finished hope this is what you were wanting to know
