700r4 electrical connections

How do you hook up the torque convertor lock up switch?

Got to 700r4.com and look at the wiring diagrams for the TV operation.

This example shows a switch that allows you to turn off the lock-up.


This example shows without the switch.

There are other ways to wire it like using a vacuum switch to control it, but IMO thse illistrations are the simplest and work just fine.

ok, but if i didnt hook it up would it hurt anything?

No, you would just not be taking advantage of the torque converter lockup feature. The most important thing to get right is the proper adjustment of the TV cable. Get it wrong and you can toast your transmission in a few miles.

the converter clutch needs to be locked up in over drive.

it is about oil flow path in & out of the converter that feeds the cooler flow and lube system of the trans

and heat build up in over drive
